iPhone 4S : 10 Reasons to Buy It

After the introduction of the phone 4S on Tuesday , Apple was met with an attack of sharp criticism for the most part "is not up to the hype." Entries vary in a phone seemed completely redesigned set expectations wrong.

But at the head of people saw the entrance a mile away. The Cupertino company pulled the same with 3GS. Why create something new every year, when the cell phone business was generally based on two-year contracts?

But the fact that the iPhone 4S looks strikingly similar to its predecessor, by saying it's a defective phone? Of course not. In fact, in several categories, the new Apple smartphone will still rank at the top of its class.

Here are 10 reasons why you might consider buying the iPhone 4S:

1. Performance
Sporting the same A5, dual-core processor found in Apple’s latest tablet, the iPhone 4S is 2x faster than its predecessor. And its graphics processor got an upgrade as well. The new GPU is 7x faster than the chip found in the iPhone 4. These improvements will be most noticeable in resource-intensive apps, and especially in games. Look for developers to start utilizing the A5 to produce games with much better graphics and sharper details.
2. Camera
The iPhone 4S houses a state-of-the art 8MP camera, capable of taking 3264 x 2448 photos. That’s 60% more pixels than the iPhone 4′s camera, and it allows you to print out crystal clear 8×10 photos. Other new features include an improved illumination sensor, which will improve lowlight pictures, and an infrared filter to produce more accurate colors. And with Apple’s new custom ISP (Image Signal Processor), you can go from the home screen to taking a picture, in 1.1 seconds. Now that’s fast.
3. Video Camera
Although the previous iPhone was capable of capturing HD video, it was limited to just 720 lines of resolution. The iPhone 4S is capable of shooting video in full HD, which is 1080 lines. The video camera also includes pro features like temporal noise reduction, which helps you record video in lowlight situations, and image stabilization to compensate for the shakiness that typically occurs when a camera isn’t mounted on a tripod.
4. Siri
The iPhone 4S will come pre-installed with Siri, your very own digital personal assistant. The responding-voice recognition system uses artificial intelligence and seemingly endless knowledge to answer your questions and help you with multitask. Siri can answer trivial questions, pull up restaurants and movie theaters, and even scribe emails and text messages for you. The system stands out among other voice command technologies, because it understands plain language and has access to such a large database of information.
5. AirPlay Mirroring
This feature is aimed at folks who already own an Apple TV, but it’s one of the coolest additions in the new iPhone. With AirPlay mirroring, everything you do on your iPhone can be mirrored on your TV set via an Apple TV. That means you can browse the web, type an email, and even play games on the big screen — and it’s all wireless. Game developers are already taking advantage of the new feature, creating multiplayer racing games that you can play on your TV set, while using your iPhone as the controller. AirPlay mirroring is only available on the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S.
6. Improved Antenna
Apple caught a lot of heat over the iPhone 4′s antenna woes. The debacle ended up costing the company a lot of bad publicity and millions of dollars in free cases. But this time around, Apple did its homework. The iPhone 4S touts a new dual-antenna design for improved reception, and houses a new feature that switches between the two for better call quality. And if your carrier happens to support HSDPA+, your iPhone 4S will be capable of downloading data at 14.4Mbps. That’s twice as fast as the iPhone 4 and on par with other “4G” handsets.
7. Battery Life
Even with the iPhone 4S’ new A5 dual core processor, 8MP camera, and the always-ready Siri assistant, the handset still manages to hold on to its predecessor’s amazing battery life. With Apple’s new handset you can talk up to 8 hours on 3G (14 hours on 2G), you can browse the internet for up to 6 hours (9 hours on Wi-Fi), you can watch up to 10 hours of video, and listen to music for a staggering 40 hours straight. And if you’re not a heavy user, the iPhone 4S has a standby time of up to 200 hours.
8. Design
Though a lot of folks were expecting a redesigned smartphone, the iPhone 4S is still a remarkable engineering feat. A year after its introduction, the device continues to be one of the slimmest (if not the slimmest) handsets on the market — even with all of its hardware improvements. The original iPhone 4 was heralded as “beautiful” and “striking,” and the iPhone 4S continues that trend. Though its 3.5″ screen might feel small in the company of other 4″+ devices, it helps keep the new iPhone portable enough to fit comfortably in your pocket.
9. Apps
The App Store doesn’t really need an introduction. Apple was first to strike it big in the mobile apps market, and it’s paid off for the company in dividends. The iOS platform is way ahead of the competition in the third party apps race. Not just in terms of quantity, but quality as well. Apple’s stringent app-approval process keeps out malicious software, and ensures (for the most part) that only quality software makes it into its ecosystem. The iPhone 4S will be able to run all of the App Store’s 500,000+ titles, as well as any new ones that come out that require Apple’s A5 processor.
10. Satisfaction
Apple’s products are synonymous with the phrase “it just works,” and the iPhone is no exception. It’s reliable, rarely (if ever) freezes or crashes, and doesn’t suffer from the fragmentation issues that plague other mobile platforms. Apple makes the hardware, and creates the software, and both work beautifully together to provide a pain-free smartphone experience. The numbers speak for themselves. Several recent reports have found that over 90% of iPhone owners are likely to buy their next handset from Apple. Expect the iPhone 4S to continue the tradition.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 4S start tonight in the U.S. at 12:01 PST. The handset will be available in retail stores starting October 14.
Do you plan on picking one up?

See How The iPhone Changed The Mobile Phone Designs In 5 Years

Since The original iPhone was released in 2007, the mobile phone designs have changed substantially. Nearly all mobile vendors have converted to touchscreens. Check it out after the jump.

We now see that every mobile phone vendor in the world are now making full touchscreen phones, But it seems that RIM is pretty convinced with their design and they feel like their customers is missing any thing,
All they did is adding a capacitive screen on their old models and they are good to go.

Low Cost iPhone 4 [Leaked Photos]

The Vietnamese site, Tinhte.vn had posted images to what they claim is a Low Cost iPhone 4. The site says that the photos come from a very reliable source.

Some other information that you want to transfer to you is that this machine seems to run faster than the iPhone 4, lighter weight and two glass front and back seem to have been replaced by two plastic sheets, type of sensation and cry other than the iPhone 4.

Vinhte.vn is known to be one of the sites that had early access to iPhone 4 Prototype. They also posted images of iPod Touch prototype with camera as well as 64 GB White iPhone 4 running a special version of iOS 4 with Expose-like multitasking.
Lately, there has been rumors about the launch of two not one iPhone model this year as Apple wants to compete in the mid range smartphone market, and the current iPhone 4 is too expensive to build as is to fill this gap.

TinyUmbrella Updated To Support iOS 4.3.5, And Update iPhone 4 Baseband

TinyUmbrella has been updated to 5.00.07. This time TinyUmbrella allows you to choose to update your baseband or not.
tinyumbrella

I'll probably regret this but this newest version of TU (5.00.07) will allow you to choose whether or not to update your iPhone 4's baseband. This new feature comes with a catch:
  1. First, the version you WANT to restore to and the version Apple is currently signing must BOTH have the same baseband. This is important or else the baseband update will not work and you will get a 10xx error and need to use fixrecovery. (Works for iPhone 4 - will not work for iPad 2)
  2. Second, you need to realize that checking the box WILL UPDATE YOUR BASEBAND.
  3. Third, I'm working on a simple tool that will allow you to create a pseudo-custom firmware mixing a new baseband with an older iOS version (one that is jailbreakable for example). This feature exists in the TinyUmbrella rewrite but does not yet exist in the older codebase. SORRY! I'm working on it!
Remember: If you want to unlock your iPhone , Do not update your baseband.

Unlock iPhone 4 On iOS 4.3.5 Using Pwnage Tool [Guide]

iOS 4.3.5 was recently released by Apple to fix a security issue with certificate validation.Thankfully Redmondpie Team has cooked a custom PwnageTool bundle that will allow you to jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 and Preserve Baseband unlock.

Here's what you will need:

Warning:If your baseband is 4.10.1 Do not update to iOS 4.3.5 as there is no unlock for it now.
 Modify PwnageTool For Custom Bundle

Step 1: extract the custom bundle we mentioned above and drag it to your desktop.

Step 2: drag the PwnageTool app to the /Applications folder but do not launch it yet. Instead, right-click it and select Show Package Contents, in order to insert the bundle. For reference, check out the screenshot below.
Step 3: you should now see a Finder window identical to the one below. Navigate over to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and place the .bundle file you had selected earlier to this location, then close the window.
Creating Custom 4.3.5 Firmware

Step 4: start up PwnageTool in Expert mode, as shown on the screenshot below. Select the device you’re using, then click on the blue arrow on the bottom-right corner of the window to proceed.
Step 5: when requested, point PwnageTool to the iOS 4.3.5 IPSW file you downloaded earlier, as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 6: on the next screen, you’ll be given the option to further customize the software you’re about to build. Feel free to toy around with these settings, but only if you know what you’re doing. If you’re not sure what to do, just click on "Build" as shown below. PwnageTool will then build a jailbroken firmware, a process that could take a few minutes, so kick back and have a soda.

Step 7: when instructed, you need to put your phone into DFU mode. Just do as follows:

Hold down both the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button for 10 more seconds.
If your screen is black, you’re in DFU mode. If an iTunes logo is displayed, you’re in Restore Mode: just try the steps above a few more times, sometimes it doesn’t go well on the first try. Nonetheless, a notification will be displayed if you’ve managed to enter this mode correctly.
Restoring Custom 4.3.5 Firmware On iPhone

Step 8
: once this process is done, you’re free to exit out of PwnageTool. Now launch iTunes and restore to the firmware file you’ve just created: select your device from the iTunes sidebar, and click Restore while holding down the Alt key on your keyboard. Select the firmware file you’ve just saved (make sure it’s the one created by PwnageTool, not the default firmware) and click Open. iTunes should now begin loading the jailbroken firmware to your device, avoid interacting it at this point. If everything goes as expecting, your device should be jailbroken at this point.
Booting iPhone In Tethered Mode

Since this is a tethered jailbreak, whenever you boot up your device you’ll have to plug it into your computer and run a small utility known as tetheredboot. You’ll need to follow the following Step 11 and Step 12 whenever you start up your device!

Step 9: place tetheredboot (download link at the beginning of the article) in an accessible directory.

Step 10: change the extension of the custom IPSW file you’ve just created to .zip by renaming the file, then extract it much like a real ZIP file. Navigate to /Firmware/dfu/ and copy two files (kernelcache.release.n90 and iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu) from that directory to the folder you’ve pasted tetheredboot utility into, as shown below.
Step 11: with your device plugged in but turned off, bring up the Mac OS X Terminal (by heading to Applications/Utilities/Terminal), type in the following commend, press enter and insert your password when requested:

sudo -s

Then type in the following:

/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/tetheredboot
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/kernelcache.release.n90

if the commands above don’t work, try the following:

/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/tetheredboot –i
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu -k
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/kernelcache.release.n90

Important: Make sure you replace /Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/ with the directory where you have placed the tetheredboot utility.
If you’re not comfortable typing in commands, you can simply drag the 3 files in your tetheredboot folder right into the terminal window after the original sudo -s command.

Step 12: after some code runs through the terminal, you’ll be asked to set your phone into DFU mode. Do so, as shown below:

Hold down both the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button for 10 more seconds.
If your screen is black, you’re in DFU mode. If an iTunes logo is displayed, you’re in Restore Mode: just try the steps above a few more times, sometimes it doesn’t go well on the first try.

If you wait a few seconds, you should see “Exiting libpois0n” on the terminal. Your device is now in a jailbroken state until next time you power off.
After all you always could downgradeyour firmware to a previous version. Guide Here.

How To Downgrade iOS 4.3.5 To 4.3.4, 4.3.3, 4.3.2 Or 4.3.1 [Guide]

Today Apple released iOS 4.3.5 to fix a security issue with certificate validation issue. But if you accidentally updated your firmware to 4.3.5 and you had saved your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.4, 4.3.3, 4.3.2 or 4.3.1, You can downgrade from iOS 4.3.5 to any of them. Check out how after the jump.
Warning: This Method won’t work with iPad 2 [3G versions]

Step 1: Download the required IPSW file to which you want to downgrade to, the links are given below for your convenience:
iOS 4.3.4
iOS 4.3.3
iOS 4.3.2
iOS 4.3.1
Step 2: Once you’ve downloaded the required IPSW file, its time you put your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into DFU mode. The steps are as follows:
Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your PC or Mac.
    Turn your device off.
    Now launch iTunes.
Hold down the Power button and the Home button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds, release the Power button but don’t let go of the Home button, your computer should detect a new USB device.
At this point, iTunes will also recognize your device, whether its an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
At this point, your device’s screen should be off, if that’s so, then you’ve successfully put your device in DFU mode. If iTunes logo shows up, you’re in Recovery Mode, NOT DFU mode.
Step 3: Here comes the tricky and the most important part, you’re going to fool iTunes into thinking that its in contact with Apple’s servers, whereas we’re going to change that to Saurik’s server. In order to do this, follow the steps given below:

    Windows users:
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and locate the file named as “hosts”.

    Mac users:
Mac users can access the “hosts” file by navigating to “/etc/” folder, which can be found through Go > Go to Folder from within Finder.

If you’re on Windows, then open the “hosts” file in Notepad. If on a Mac, then open the “hosts” file in TextEdit, and add the following line at the end:
    74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
Refer to the screenshot below if you’re having confusion:

Just save the file and close Notepad or TextEdit, and you’re all set for the downgrade.
A quick note for Windows 7 and Vista users: Start Notepad with “Administrator privileges”, that can be done by right-clicking the Notepad app, and there you will see the “Administrator privileges” option, simply click and launch.
A quick note for Mac OS X users: While saving the host file on your Mac, you should have complete read and write privileges in order to make changes. Getting a permission error? A simple workaround is to copy the host file to your Mac’s desktop, from there make the changes in TextEdit, save the file, and copy it back to the original location, and replace the original host file with the one which you just created.
Step 4: Launch iTunes, choose your device from the left sidebar. Hold down the left “Shift” key if you’re on Windows or hold down the left “alt” key if you’re on a Mac and click on “Restore”, do not click anything else! A new window will pop up asking you for the location of the IPSW file.

Navigate to the desired firmware to which you want to downgrade to, in this case it can be either iOS 4.3.3, 4.3.2, 4.3.1, 4.3 or 4.2.1. Once you find the required IPSW file, click “Open” and let iTunes do its thing.
In a matter of few minutes, iTunes will install the version of iOS which you directed it to install. At this point you should see a progress bar on your device, everything is automated, therefore don’t do anything silly. Your device will reboot automatically when everything is done.
In some cases, iTunes will throw 1013 error, ignore it, its perfectly normal when downgrading. At this point, your device will be in Recovery Mode with your desired version of iOS fully installed.

You should see a screen like the one below:

Its quite simple to get out of Recovery Mode, simply down this nifty program called TinyUmbrella (Windows, Mac) along with Fix Recovery (Windows, Mac).
Once you’re done downloading TinyUmbrella, launch it, and then click on the “Exit Recovery” button. In a matter of seconds, your device will boot up normally.

Once you’re done with this, the last thing you’re going to do is remove the line you added to the “host” file in step 3, which is 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com in order to receive updates from Apple’s servers normally.
