Savor the Freedom That Comes With an Unlocked BlackBerry Phone

BlackBerry phones are not just ordinary phones, some believe they are "the most gorgeous looking smartphone on the planet". Once you hold a BlackBerry in your hand you will understand why it is "the most stylish" and even more once you start using it. BlackBerry applications are more than enough to cater to all your personal and professional needs. But usually it so happens that the phone comes locked with the service provider's (phone company's) settings preventing it to be used with other network providers. In case you want to switch over to another network there is only one option for you i.e. buy a new phone and forsake your BlackBerry.

There is another way and it is to get an unlocked BlackBerry. Most companies lock the phones due to financial reasons as it ensures that the subscriber stays with them. But once you have succeeded in unlocking a BlackBerry you are free to select any provider you want. Unlocked phones are great especially if you travel from one country to another as you can use any temporary network of the visiting country, and most often the call rates will be a lot cheaper than the international rates of your service provider.

Most cell phones can be unlocked and BlackBerry is no exception, but just like with any other phone, unlocking a BlackBerry requires a certain code from the network provider. The BlackBerry unlocking code can easily be bought over the internet against a small payment.

Unlocked BlackBerry phones are sold by several different dealers across the world. Big retailers such as Amazon also sell unlocked phones but with a warning that after unlocking a BlackBerry it still might not support all network service providers. It is true that an unlocked BlackBerry might not work with all carriers and that some of its features might not function properly, but that's a risk that can be taken.

So before you buy an unlocked BlackBerry or try unlocking a BlackBerry it is wise to check the compatibility of the phone with the new carrier; this can be checked over the internet. One more thing that one should watch out for when buying an unlocked phone is whether the phone is really unlocked or not. So before buying unlocked phones it is better to get them from reputed dealers or retailers so that you don't run into trouble.
