Bicycle lights what to pay attention to

Hopefully, it has been made clear that bicycle lights are of extreme importance. However, making the perfect choice can turn out to be very difficult, especially for the part of the people who have not familiarized themselves about the most important specifications which need to be paid attention to. So what you will find here are some of the main technical expectations which good bicycle lights live up to.

The most important thing, without a shade of doubt, is the reliability. Faulty are not reliable whatsoever: they can break, and may even not be waterproof which means that they will probably stop working when they are most needed (in rainy days). So everybody needs to make sure they choose which are water-resistant and made of high quality materials which are not easy to break or rust.

Another characteristic which could be included in the category "reliability" is the sensors for tuning on. Good bicycle lights need to be equipped with two ways (sensors) for switching to a turn-on mode. The first one is the light sensor which means that the will turn on automatically when it starts to get dark outdoors. The other sensor which is called "move sensor" i.e. the will start working only when somebody is riding the bike. The combination of the two sensors is essential since it would be stupid if there was just light sensor for example. That would mean that the would turn on in the dark even if nobody is riding the bike, which will result in inefficiency, plenty of batteries going dead etc. On the other side, if there is only a move sensor that means the will turn on every time where somebody is riding the bicycle, even if it is day. It sounds kind of stupid, doesn't it?

The type of batteries which the used is another fact which is worth mentioning. Basically, they need 3xAG10 batteries so that maximum brightness is provided. The good thing is that those batteries will most likely never go dead because of their high-quality and the efficiency of the bicycle lights themselves. However, those, who always like to keep the brightness to a maximum level, can buy new batteries regularly. It is really not needed but as the time goes by, the batteries slowly become weaker, which will certainly result in the brightness in a negative aspect. That will not affect on the safety in any way but still there are people who do not like it when their are less bright than they could be.
