iPad 2 HD Canceled And Plans For Earlier iPad 3 Release

Reports on the web today says that Apple has canceled the iPad2 HD which means that about 1,000,000 units will be retooled and is planning to release the iPad3 earlier 2012, according to Peter Misek of Jefferies & Co

iPad 2 Scaled back

Mistek has been confirmed the earlier reports by JPMorgan about the scaleback of the iPad 2 orders, according to Barrons blog .

“We have confirmed the iPad2 build plans have been scaled back,”

and cuts estimates the fourth Quarter to twelve million units of 13.6 million units.

iPad 3 Earlier 2012

Mistek is expecting the iPad 3 to be released late January 2012.

1) iPad 2 HD was canceled (~1M units retooled); 2) Sooner-than- expected iPad 3 launch in late Jan; 3) Retail inventory caution due to potential demand slowdown; 4) Some production shift to Brazil. We see 29M iPads shipped in H2 vs. 14M in H1. We trim our 2011 global tablet forecast from 70M to 65M.

We think that this move by Apple is the right thing to do. Apple’s A6 chip is expected in 2012 it will be amazing to see the iPad3 with the double resolution retina display and the A6 chip.
